Buying a Lamp for Another Country: Resolve Compatibility First
Confirm the exact variant's input voltage, connector, and specified accessories before arranging a lamp for use abroad.
By Lumière Light Studio Editorial
A lamp's delivery destination and its place of use are not necessarily the same. You might carry a gift after it arrives at your home, or send it to someone who is about to move. Resolve where the lamp will actually operate before treating an international order as a simple address change.
Identify the exact variant and destination
Record the intended country of use, the exact product listing, and the selected option. Do not infer compatibility from the currency displayed on a website or from a photograph showing a familiar plug. Those details do not confirm the supplied variant's requirements.
Check the current product page for the exact variant's input voltage and connector. If either is absent or unclear, ask support. A model name shared across several options is not enough to settle which specification applies to the one you intend to order.
Keep the question precise. Ask support to confirm the input rating and connection for the chosen variant intended for that destination. Do not reduce the question to whether the lamp can be shipped there; delivery availability and electrical compatibility are separate matters.
Do not use a plug adapter to answer a voltage question
A plug adapter does not convert voltage. A matching physical connection is therefore not proof that a lamp is compatible with the available supply. This guide does not recommend an adapter, converter, or other workaround for an unresolved mismatch.
Use only the cable or adapter specified by the product listing or manufacturer. Ask which accessories are supplied with the exact option and which requirements remain to be confirmed. Do not assume an accessory is included because it appears in a photograph.
If the listing mentions a separate power accessory, obtain the manufacturer's specified requirements rather than choosing one by appearance. Do not open the lamp, replace its connector, or modify it to make it fit the destination. An unanswered requirement is a reason to pause the choice.
Keep compatibility and delivery records separate
| Question | Where to resolve it |
|---|---|
| Exact variant input and connector | Current product page or support |
| Specified cable or adapter | Listing or manufacturer guidance |
| Delivery arrangements | Current Shipping page |
| Order or product enquiry route | Current Client Care page |
Keep written confirmation with the product reference so it remains clear which option was discussed. If you change the selected variant, revisit the unanswered questions rather than carrying the earlier assumption across.
For a gift, tell the recipient what has been confirmed and preserve the original instructions. Avoid asking them to solve a connection problem after the parcel arrives. If the destination or exact variant is still uncertain, choosing the lamp together later can be the more practical decision.
Before ordering, make sure you can identify the variant, its confirmed input, its connector, and the specified accessories without guessing. If not, the next step is a support question, not a country-based shortcut or an improvised electrical solution.
