How glass changes light

A bare bulb has a single bright point. Glass scatters and softens that point into a volume — the whole body becomes the light source. The effect is calmer on the eye and warmer in photos.

Frosted vs. ribbed vs. clear

Frosted glass gives the most diffused glow — quietest in a bedroom. Ribbed and pleated glass adds a texture that catches the eye when lit. Clear glass keeps the bulb visible; use it only with a low-watt warm bulb.

Caring for hand-shaped glass

Dust with a microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Minor surface variation in hand-shaped glass is a feature, not a flaw — it's how the light gets its character.
